ZTA Convention at JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa

There is something incredibly special about photographing a room filled with women connected by generations of shared tradition. As a sorority convention photographer, our team had the opportunity to capture exactly that at the ZTA Convention at JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa.

More than 1,000 ZTA sisters from across the United States and Canada gathered in Palm Desert for a weekend filled with celebration, connection, and community. With attendees ranging in age from 18 to 88, the convention was an incredible representation of what lifelong sisterhood can look like.

Welcome Reception + Custom ZTA Keepsakes

The weekend kicked off with remarks from ZTA leadership as sisters arrived at the beautiful resort and reunited with friends from across North America.

Attendees jumped into the festivities by creating custom charm bracelets and decorating their own ZTA bags. It gave everyone something personal to remember the weekend by while catching up with fellow sisters.

Annual Flag Ceremony + ZTA Business

Throughout the convention, sisters gathered for ZTA’s annual flag ceremony and official organizational business.

Members celebrated outgoing leadership, welcomed new board members, and came together to recognize another year of growth and accomplishment. These moments offered a beautiful balance between ZTA’s longstanding traditions and the organization’s continued evolution.

Exploring ZTA History and Shopping the ZTA Store

One of the most unique parts of the weekend was the ZTA historical exhibit.

Attendees could explore archival materials documenting the sorority’s history from its founding in 1898 through today. Photographs, memorabilia, and historical pieces gave sisters the opportunity to see how generations of ZTA women helped shape the organization they are part of today.

Of course, there was no shortage of ZTA pride.

Throughout the weekend, attendees visited the chapter store. They shopped branded clothing, jewelry, water bottles, accessories, and plenty of other ways to proudly represent their sisterhood.

Programming + Sisterhood Activities

The weekend also included talks, educational programming, and community-building activities led by fellow ZTA sisters.

These sessions created opportunities for members from different chapters and generations to learn from one another, share experiences, and strengthen connections beyond their individual chapters.

A Resort-Wide Scavenger Hunt

One of the most fun ways attendees explored the property was through a resort-wide scavenger hunt.

Sisters traveled around JW Marriott Desert Springs checking activities off their lists. Activities included everything from playing mini golf and visiting the resort’s flamingos to arcade games and even boat tours.

It was such a fun way to turn the resort itself into part of the convention experience! It also gave attendees plenty of opportunities to laugh, explore, and bond with one another.

Happy Hours + Reuniting With Sisters

As the days wound down, evening happy hours brought everyone back together.

These were some of our favorite candid moments to photograph. The rooms were filled with huge smiles, hugs, conversations, and the excitement of reconnecting with sisters who may not have seen one another in years.

ZTA pride was everywhere.

Nightly Awards + Chapter Celebrations

The nightly awards ceremonies may have been our favorite part of the entire weekend. As a sorority convention photographer, I thrive off of lively crowds!

The energy completely changed as chapters were called to receive honors for fundraising, housing, leadership, and other accomplishments. Sisters cheered wildly for one another, creating an incredible sense of chapter pride and community.

It was a perfect reminder that being part of an organization like ZTA means being part of something much larger than yourself.

Among the many achievements celebrated was ZTA’s ongoing commitment to breast cancer education and awareness.

With breast cancer affecting approximately one in eight women during their lifetime, seeing thousands of women come together to support a cause that impacts so many was especially meaningful.

Women supporting women, celebrating accomplishments, and using their collective community to make a difference—what more could you ask for?
