A few years ago, I photographed a wedding shoot with a beautiful bride and groom in Joshua Tree. I love when couples take an adventurous approach to their nuptials. Even better, I love when a couple is down for anything. Since all three of us live in Los Angeles, the plan was simple. Joshua Tree National Park is about two and a half hours away. Still, it feels like a different world once you arrive. Rugged rock formations rise from the desert floor. The landscape stretches wide and quiet. Those iconic trees, found only in the region, make every scene feel surreal. If you’re searching for a Joshua Tree elopement photographer, this is exactly the kind of day I live for.

We met before the sun was up at Key’s View. It was freezing, and the sky felt endless. Key’s View overlooks the Coachella Valley, which many people know from the festival by the same name. Thankfully, we had the overlook all to ourselves. As the sun rose, the valley lit up slowly. Pink and purple tones spread across the horizon. There is no light like sunrise. I mostly stayed quiet and let Amy and David cuddle close for warmth. Meanwhile, they soaked in the joy of being married the night before.

After Key’s View, we headed deeper into the park. The Joshua trees created bold silhouettes against the morning sky. They also made Amy and David look tiny in the best way. Then we changed shoes and got moving. A bit of hiking turned into rock scrambling fast. The desert textures, the boulders, and the open space gave us endless options.

This location fit Amy and David perfectly. They love visiting National Parks across the United States together. Because of that, the whole session felt natural and effortless. I adore this couple, and I’m cheering them on always. Here’s to more hikes, more scrambling, and more epic views while staying madly in love.
