Freethink Media’s latest salon gathered artists, scientists, engineers, technologists, and storytellers in downtown Los Angeles. The event explored the future of the space industry—and how it affects life on Earth. Set inside Chromasonic Field’s new studio in the Arts District, the night offered a perfect setting for chromasonic field photography. Light, sound, and ideas flowed freely.
Guests began by exploring Chromasonic Field, a large-scale, walk-through installation. This multi-city exhibition features translucent screens, shifting light, and algorithmic sound. Light becomes audible. Sound becomes visible. The experience feels like stepping inside a living, breathing painting. It’s immersive, meditative, and unforgettable.
With drinks and food in hand, guests settled in for a talk with Will Bruey, CEO and co-founder of Varda. His LA-based company focuses on space manufacturing. He explained how falling launch costs and new tech are opening the door to off-planet production. It’s a pivotal time in space exploration, and Varda is right in the middle of it.
The evening ended with a stunning performance by Brianna Tam. Using her loop station, electric cello, and bare feet, she created a dynamic, layered soundscape live. Each loop built on the last, pulling the audience into her world. Brianna’s presence was powerful yet intimate. Her TEDx appearance, National Endowment for the Arts grant, and NPR Tiny Desk recognition all made sense in that moment. She doesn’t just perform—she transports.
Freethink’s salon series exists to spark collaboration between unlikely collaborators. The immersive setting encouraged open minds and bold ideas. Innovation thrives when disciplines overlap—and this night proved it.
As a photographer, I aimed to capture more than just faces. I focused on moments of connection and curiosity. The result? A collection of images where light, sound, and human emotion intersect. This Chromasonic Field photography tells the story of a night that was both inspiring and visually extraordinary.
