As a Kol Ami mitzvah photographer, it’s always a special honor to be part of intimate celebrations that radiate love and meaning. One recent mitzvah that our team photographed was Sol’s—an incredibly sweet and personal gathering held at Congregation Kol Ami in West Hollywood.
Sol’s mitzvah was beautifully simple, attended only by his moms, close friends, and cherished family members. The service itself was heartfelt and touching. As Sol stood with grace and humility during the ceremony, you could see his family getting just a little teary-eyed. Those moments—quiet, emotional, and real—are the ones that make these events so meaningful to photograph. Congregation Kol Ami is a reform synagogue. I love the nontraditional and open-minded nature of the congregation. What a lovely approach to mitzvahs!
After the service, the celebration moved to The Spare Room at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The vibe was casual and super fun, with guests enjoying games like bowling, darts, Jenga, and checkers. The relaxed atmosphere gave everyone a chance to just be present and enjoy each other’s company.
Sol, who was a bit on the shy side, spent much of his time hanging out with his moms—which made the whole day feel even more heartfelt and authentic.
Although I didn’t photograph this mitzvah personally, our team captured it with care and attention to detail. The photos are filled with joy, warmth, and that unmistakable closeness that defines a truly special celebration.
