One of my favorite parts about being a Los Angeles elopement photographer is getting to capture beautiful multicultural wedding such as this one. Jenna, a bride from Korea, met Iu, a groom from Spain, during the pandemic and the rest is history. They have been inseparable ever since! It was important to them to capture candid, heartfelt images of their private celebration.

I always tell my couples that the most important part of their special day is that they actually enjoy it. So many times, especially for elopements and more intimate wedding celebrations, the couple tries to take on too much of the planning. Hire a planner, trust them to execute your vision, and leave the details up to them. You will feel much more relaxed having someone in charge of running the show so that you can relax. After all, you get to do this once: have FUN!

Tip 2: Play by YOUR rules.

Traditional shmadition. I know this is controversial, but you don’t have to do things the conventional way. For Jenna and Iu, the most important part of their celebration was selecting a venue that was accessible to all of their guests, and enjoying an intimate celebration with their closest loved ones. After all, many of the bride’s guests flew in from Korea, and many of the groom’s side flew in from Spain to celebrate. Asking them to jump through additional hoops and hurdles was out of the question. Jenna and Iu wanted to celebrate with good food, good drinks, and of course, GREAT photography 🙂

Tip 3: Hire the best photographer for YOUR style.

Ok, listen closely! There are different types of photographers at all different budget ranges, with different approaches and different offerings. Deciding who is the best fit for YOU is crucial in making sure you’re satisfied throughout the entire process, from planning through delivery. Jenna and Iu prioritized a more candid approach to photography, and wanted to make sure all of their guests felt welcome and comfortable. Since it was an international wedding celebration, they hadn’t seen some of their loved ones in years, so they wanted the experience to feel organic and the photos needed to capture the love of their two families meeting and combining. It was a rare coming together of two cultures, so they wanted a photographer who was both candid and deeply observant. Check! No posed, canned, or cheesy make believe stuff on our end. Just joy, laughter, and love.
